Privacy PolicyWe value your personal privacy and hate spam and companies who sell your information as much as you do. Any personally identifying information we collect from you is voluntarily given by you, and other info we collect will not be used to identify you. Listed below are all the ways Your Mapper gets data about you, and what we do with that data.Collected Data
We collect our data from public and private sources. All data on the site is intended to be public record. If you believe some data should not be public, please contact the local government data provider first before contacting us. Our first step in data resolution is to direct you to the data source. See our Terms of Use for more details.
Browsing
When you browse around the site, we look at your overall habits and clicks, check out the browser and operating system you are using, and other information we need to later track our site traffic. This is all built into the way the internet works, and most sites use this info. None of this info can be used to identify an individual, and we only aggregate it to get overall statistics of our traffic.
Searching
When you type in an address to search for, we do store that in a database, but not to identify you. We use it to speed up future searches, see the most popular searches, heat maps, and if there are any issues or features we can add based on how everyone is searching.
Previous Data
We use cookies and session variables to store your most recent search. We only use this to perform the same search automatically on return visits, for your convenience.
API
When you use our API to develop your own applications, we track the requesting page, domain, user IP, and which API calls are used. We do this only to measure the number of calls to our API from you per day, which prevents API abuse and lets us know if your usage qualifies you to be a commercial/high-traffic client if you exceed your daily limit.
Widgets
Other sites can embed our maps using one of our mapping widgets. We track the requesting page, domain, and user IP. We do this only to measure the number of calls to our widgets from you per day, which prevents widget abuse and lets us know if your usage qualifies you to be a commercial/high-traffic client if you exceed your daily limit.
Newsletter
If you manually opt-in to receiving our newsletter then it will be emailed to the address on record at periodic intervals. You can opt-out at any time.
Contact Us
When you contact us, you can provide information about yourself, and we look at your IP to prevent spam. However, we only use this to make sure you are an individual and not a spam bot, and to get in touch with you if you want. We will never give or sell any of this to any other individual or company. We do not keep your IP, email address, or message in a database when you use the contact form.
